Our vineyards are located in the beautiful Alexander Valley, on the banks of the pristine Russian River. Wine Farm Intern
Position/title: Wine Farm Intern
Department: Eco Terreno Wines & Vineyards
Reports to: Vineyard Manager
Summary
Under the direction of the Vineyard Manager, and the Eco Terreno Farm team, this position will complete daily duties required for the garden, farm, and animal husbandry programs. The intern will be an integral part of the team in understanding what is occurring in the vineyard and on the farm in order to make decisions in real time. An ideal candidate will be immersed in all facets of working on a farm and be able to complete assigned farm projects. We are looking for a versatile intern to help connect all aspects of our diverse Wine Farm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Vineyard and Animal Programs
- Perform data collection, monitoring, analysis, and create grazing reports for our vineyard, garden, and riparian areas under the direction of the ETW Leadership team
- Provide exceptional animal care to our flocks and livestock under the direction of the ETW Leadership team, including daily care
Garden Programs
- Seed, harvest, process, deliver, weed, and record data from the garden
- Implement weekly composting and worm program in garden
- Aid in the preparation of the soil and fertility surrounding the garden through application of biodynamic sprays and our surrounding biodiversity and companion plantings adjacent to the garden
Farm Programs
- Work with the rhythm of biodynamics and apply preparations to the property
- Monitor our fruit and olive trees for pests
- Aid in weekly monitoring and assess overall blue bird box program to understand the lifecycle of their presence on the Wine Farm.
- Work with the ETW leadership team to plan, propagate, and plant perennials and hedgerows throughout the property to increase biodiversity.
- Learn, plant, and harvest for biodynamic preparations to build capacity for our preparation program.
- Complete other tasks as assigned in relation to the farm and vineyard (e.g., harvest).
Job Requirements
- Education/Experience: Must be currently or recently enrolled (within the last 2 years) in a credential education program/ animal husbandry experience (preferred).
- Language: Fluent in English with strong oral and communication skills. Basic Spanish (preferred).
- Skills: Capability and desire to utilize relevant computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database programs.
- Knowledge: working knowledge of basic animal husbandry, livestock nutrition, animal behavior, soils, and plant species (preferred).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s automobile insurance requirements.
- Full time availability for position: Tuesday- Saturday

Vineyard Intern
Position/title: Vineyard Intern
Department: Eco Terreno Wines & Vineyards
Reports to: Vineyard Manager
Summary
Under the direction of the Vineyard Manager, Winemaker, and other Eco Terreno Vineyards (ETV) leadership team, assist with duties required to maintain the company’s Organic and Biodynamic viticultural vineyard programs. Eco Terreno vineyards sit in the famous Alexander Valley, in Cloverdale CA. Key responsibilities will entail: helping to maintain good viticultural farming practices leading to the production of the highest quality grapes possible and assisting in the monitoring and collection of vineyard data. The intern will be an integral part of the team in understanding what is occurring in the vineyard in order to make decisions in real time.
VINEYARD ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vineyard Programs
• Perform data collection, analysis and create reports for cluster sampling, water potential sampling, cluster weights, and Brix sampling
• Learn the rhythm of biodynamics and how the practices are applied yearly
• Monitor vineyard for pests, diseases, nutrition, cover crop health, and vine health
• Participate and evaluate the irrigation regime to meet vine water needs
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pest control programs under direction of Vineyard Manager
• Conduct and report vine nutrition analysis status through periodic petiole samples
• Measure and report soil nutrition status through periodic soil samples
• Integrate and evaluate vine and soil nutrition data
• Submit samples for lab analysis and bring reports to Vineyard Manager and Owner as directed
• Input and monitor irrigation schedules to meet canopy growth and fruit quality expectations
• Participate in grape harvest
• Vineyard Manager may be assigned special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
Field Viticulture Data Collection Program
• Ensure viticulture, yield component, phenological, weather, and fruit chemistry data are collected and reported in an accurate and timely manner
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Viticulture Plans, annual Vintage Summary Report and other viticultural reports
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Education/Experience: Must be currently enrolled in a credential education program/ viticulture experience (preferred).
• Language: Fluent in English with strong oral and communication skills. Basic Spanish (preferred).
• Skills: Capability and desire to learn relevant vineyard computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database programs.
• Knowledge: Good knowledge of vine physiology, phenology, morphology, and water relations (preferred). Knowledge of soils, soil chemistry, plant nutrition, and pest management (preferred).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s automobile insurance requirements.
• Full time availability for position (preferred).
• Other: must have valid documentation to meet US work requirements, no assistance with Visas will be provided.
OTHER PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Spanish language skills.
