Our mission is to farm in harmony with nature, growing high-quality fruit without the use of synthetic or chemical inputs and to promote positive regenerative ecological actions.

With these core principles we can make a difference.

• Plant diversity: Plants support each other’s well-being, just like people do. By keeping nutrients in balance and weeds in check, all survive and thrive. For this reason, we seed over 100 acres of our wine farm with a wide variety of covercrops including white yarrow, California poppy, sweet peas, and echinacea, to name a few.
• Animal life: Our farm is a living ecosystem, with sheep, chickens, geese, and ducks freely roaming amongst the vines, managing pest control, adding nutrient-rich manure to the soil, and eliminating weeds naturally. We also encourage wildlife to make our farm their home, providing shelters, growing insect friendly flowers and plants, and preserving over 10% of our site as natural habitat.
• Composting: The key ingredient to convert inactive dirt to healthy soil, eliminating the need for synthetic or chemical inputs. We make our own Biodynamic compost on-site, from organic cow manure, organic straw, pomace (leftover grape skins, seeds and stems), and organic plant waste from our edible garden.

Organic farming means we grow our grapes without using synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Instead, we rely on natural methods, such as crop rotation, composting, and beneficial insects, to maintain healthy soil and a thriving ecosystem. This approach helps preserve the environment, enhance biodiversity, and produce grapes with a true expression of the land.

We carefully monitor every stage of growth, from soil health to pest control. Our team uses sustainable practices to encourage a balanced ecosystem in the vineyard. We also regularly test the soil and grape quality to ensure they meet our high standards, and every step we take supports the long-term health of the vineyard.

Organic wine is made from grapes grown without synthetic chemicals, while conventional wines may involve pesticides and fertilizers. Organic wines often have a purer, more natural taste, reflecting the unique character of the land. Since no artificial additives or preservatives are allowed, our wine also maintains more of its authentic, fresh flavors.

Industrial farming is the dominant food production system around the world. It emphasizes cultivating a few crops, mono-culture farming, with a heavy reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides to increase production. Research is discovering this large-scale production model is contributing to environmental damage, including air and water pollution, degradation of soil health, and diminishing biodiversity. It is also proving to be detrimental to the health of workers, consumers, and wildlife. At Eco Terreno we promote the long-term health of the land and people by practicing Biodynamic farming and regenerative agriculture rather than short-term, harmful industrial agriculture.
