October Wine Club Shipment
Dear Wine Club Members,
We’re delighted to share this new release with you - our members always first. Each bottle captures the hallmark quality and vibrant character that make Alexander Valley so exceptional. Two standouts are our Old Vine Rosé and Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc. These vines have been nurtured for nearly 50 years, and they hold a special place in our story. We can’t wait for you to experience them, and to raise a glass to their history and endurance.
Below, you’ll find tasting notes for many of the wines in this October release, along with pairing suggestions to help you enjoy them at their best - whether opened now or saved for a special occasion.
Thank you for being an important part of the Eco Terreno family. It’s a joy to share these wines with you, and we hope you’ll share that joy with others.
2023 Old Vine Rosé
Tasting Notes:
It presents a very light, salmon pink color. The first impression is freshly baked bread, followed by watermelon candy, and raspberry fruit with hints of spice and wet stones. Flavor is a burst of Kool-Aid berry flavors and mouth watering acidity. Finish is soft with lingering berry/spice. The perfect wine for sushi and Ahi Tuna salad!
2022 Cultura Chardonnay
Tasting Notes:
Pale golden color. The typical guava/tropical notes are there; thanks to using the Robert Young Clone on Clay Loam soils. There are hints of espresso and coffee from the oak component; but fruit and freshness are the hallmarks of the “Cultura” style. Flavors are medium bodied, making it pair well with fish, scallops, and crab!
2021 Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes:
Bursts with pungent, Sauvignon Blanc aromas of green apple and citrus blossoms. There are hints of vanilla oak and white peach. The flavor again carries through more citrus/lemony and green apple flavors with ample richness and fruit concentration. Finish has medium acidity with lingering lemongrass and herbal notes. An excellent Sauvignon Blanc that pairs well with salads with vinegar; but rich enough to go with roasted chicken and fish with beurre blanc sauces.
2019 Merlot
Tasting Notes:
Opens with cassis and blueberry fruits. There are herbal/tea-like aromas, which is typical for Alexander Valley Merlots. Oak is playing a background role, with espresso and milk chocolate; but also brings forth more darker cherry as it airs out. The palate has this rich, lush flavors of darker cherry and berry pies. Definitely, the most concentrated fruit that I’ve made. I always have my favorite and best block of Merlot; which is Block 10 planted in 1990.
